Dr. Raju Dhakal, MBBS, MD (PM&R)
Member of the advisory board and representatives of Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs), as well as consumers, to strengthen Cochrane Rehabilitation to provide evidence based clinical practice in field of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine. Dr. Dhakal was medical officer and Tutor at KMC Teaching Hospital, medical In-charge at Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Centre (SIRC), Nepal (2007-2012). Completed MD residency PM&R (2017) from Dhaka with a support from Vancouver based SpiNepal group,Canada. Volunteered at SIRC as a Physician to care spinal cord injured during earthquake disaster 2015, Nepal.
Completed observership at Indian Spinal Injury Centre in 2009. Awarded ASCoN fellowship – 2010 (NRH, Dublin) for oral paper presentation in ISCoS/ASCoN/SCS 2010 conference, India. Honorary Clinical Fellow in Rehabilitation Medicine, Royal Melbourne Hospital, Melbourne University - 2015. Recipient of first international award for international physiatrists from Canadian Physiatrits Research and Development Foundation to attend the 9th CAPM&R review course - Feb 2016, Toronoto, Canada. Completed 2 weeks of training in spinal cord injury rehabilitation at GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre, Vancouver and Lyndhusrt Centre, Toronto - 2016.
Dr. Dhakal is a president of Nepalese academy of PMR, only one member of ISPRM and Task force committee member in Rehabilitation Disaster Relief from Nepal. He has invited as a faculty, chairs and co-chairs the scientific session in national and international conferences and to develop educational tools related to spinal cord injuries. Dr. Dhakal has been working as a Medical Director and Consultant Physician (Physiatrist) at Spinal Injury Rehabilitation Centre, Nepal. Dr. Dhakal treat the condition related to Pain, Arthritis, Paralysis and it`s rehabilitation.
His areas of interest and research works are in Cochrane rehabilitation, SCI and neuro-rehabilitation, musculoskeletal and pain medicine, disaster rehabilitation and electro-diagnostic medicine.
