I have tested my stool in lab and found Giardia and doctor prescribed 400 mg metron tab 3 times for 5 days and also added Secnidazole tablet 2gm stat to take after 4 days ... Secnidazole tablet is necessary or not please suggest me.

Thank you for the question. If your doctor has prescribed, it may be necessary as solely Metronidazole only may not remove Giardia sometime.

metronidazole alone is effective in 85% of cases. Sometimes physician add another drug to eradicate giardia. Usually only one drug is prescribed and if the symptoms are clear, no need to add another one. Thanks for the querry!
